A series of five seminars will take place in Tilbury throughout October and November aimed at informing and educating local business owners and their staff. “Building Momentum: The Pursuit of Small Business Success” is designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of small business owners. The series is hosted in Tilbury, though it is open to anyone wanting to learn how to improve specific elements of their business.

“Local business owners don’t have to go to Toronto to learn more from leading experts on topics that help improve business”, said Economic Development Officer, Geoff Wright. “Learning new tricks of the trade keep business people sharp and one step ahead of competition”, Wright went on to say, “we’re impressed with the line-up, taking advantage of this opportunity when it’s so close to home is a huge step forward in a fiercely competitive marketplace”.

Addressing accessibility laws, store design and product placement, strategies for effectively using social media in your business, and a customer service certification program – there is something for everyone. These interactive workshops will teach you successful strategies, market trends and skill development – an investment for the pursuit of small business success.

“We are very excited to be able to meet local business requests to bring experts including Barbara Crowhurst, Retail Specialist and Melissa Schenk, Social Media Strategist to Tilbury” said Carol Emery, Executive Director for Community Futures Development Corporation of Chatham-Kent. “We hope all businesses in Tilbury and surrounding area will take advantage of their wisdom. The Business Seminar Series will give Chatham-Kent business owners the opportunity to hear from top experts and share their tips on how to continue growing your business in a competitive global market”.

Vince Lally, Chairman of the Tilbury Downtown Revitalization Project explained “We are excited to be hosting this Business Seminar Series and provide the opportunity for businesses in Tilbury and the surrounding area to learn innovative tips and skills”.

Since its inception in September of 2010, the Tilbury Downtown Revitalization Project has been governed by an active committee of volunteers, local business owners, residents and resource staff.
