Chatham-Kent Signs By-Law

Please help keep Tilbury beautiful and encourage others to do the same!

The Chatham-Kent Signs and Advertising By-Law states that no person shall erect a sign attached to a tree, tree grating, protector, utility pole or light standard. A person in contravention of the By-Law could be charged with a Part 3 offence under the Provincial Offences Act and fined up to $5,000.

With Spring upon us, concerns have been expressed that yard sale signs and other advertisement type signage will be posted on our nice new light poles. Let’s work together to avoid this and any mess left behind from such signs.

How can you help? Help spread the word and kindly remind others not to post signs on our light poles and anywhere else listed above. You may also report any signs which are in violation of the By-Law to the Tilbury BIA so that we can address it.
