Municipal Budget Open Houses
On Tuesday, January 20, 2015, administration presented Chatham-Kent Council with the 2015 draft budget. The recommendations for the draft budget give Council a starting position of a net tax impact of 2.2%. A 1% tax increase has a $27 impact to the average home in Chatham-Kent.
Prior to budget deliberations starting February 3, Council and administration will be holding Community Open Houses to gather input from the public on the recommendations and any other budget matters. These meetings will take place as follows
Community open house sessions:
Tuesday, January 27 – 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM
Dresden Arena, 1212 North Street, Dresden
Wednesday, January 28 – 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM
St. Michael’s Parish Hall, 26 George Street, Ridgetown
Thursday, January 29 – 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM
Active Lifestyle Centre, 20 Merritt Ave., Chatham
The format of these sessions will be as follows:
– Open house with one-on-one discussions with administration and Council from 4:30 to 5:00
– Brief presentation & question and answer period as a group from 5:00 to 6:00
Equipped with the feedback from the Community Open Houses, Council will meet as its Budget Committee to discuss the 2015 draft budget at the following meetings:

Written and verbal presentations of up to 5 minutes are welcome at
